The Butcher sheds his feathers and reveals his true identity. No need for hiding now. He tells the star-gazer how he too once set off to find answers and instead found darkness, nothing. No matter that there are other islands and other people, all is nothing - no meaning, no soul, no purpose. As there is nothing in the desert so there is nothing in the world.

The Butcher stands over the defeated star-gazer satisfied that he has proven the folly of a belief in love and light and soul. There will be no revolution. The Butcher transforms into birds once more and takes flight, leaving the star-gazer to his fate.
